NATCHEZ — Services for Geneva B. Washington, 98, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Baptist Church No. 2 with the Rev. K.E. Stanton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Washington was born April 21, 1913, in Adams County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thorton Brown. She was homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Washington Sr.; sisters; brothers; nieces; and nephews.
Survivors include one son, Ernest “Poochie” Washington Jr. and wife, Mirian, of Fairburn, Ga.; one daughter, Sharon Washington of Natchez; six grandchildren, Ernest LaSalle Washington of Southaven, Edgar Lamond Washington of Vicksburg, Tyrone Washington and Nicole Washington, both of Natchez, Picquetta Cole of Chicago and Danielle Simmons of Atlanta; three step-grandchildren, Chauntelle Franklin and husband, Trell, and Christian Franklin, all of Atlanta and Kimberly McKnight and husband, Bill, of South Carolina; five great-grandchildren, Chetara Johnson, Nicholas Washington, Ayriel Williams, all of Natchez, Marissa Washington of Southaven and Auzyln Washington of Texas; one great-great-grandchild, KeNylah Smith; one sister-in-law, Sue Willie Washington; one godchild, Zarian Keys; and one nephew, Eddie Ford Sr., all of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Carols Owens, Johnny Longmire, Sean Crockett, Anthony Riggs, Adrian Jones and Edwin Jones.
