Vikings pound on SIHS

VIDALIA &8212; In the final game of the Ronnie Brown Memorial Tournament, accurate shooting and impressive defense that gave Vidalia Vikings a 57-36 victory over Sicily Island Tigers.

&8220;This is the third time in two weeks we played,&8221; Vidalia head coach Robert Sanders said. &8220;We needed a big win.

That they did, while playing in a zone defense. Vidalia held the Tigers scoreless in the first quarter, and Jarvis Whitley for Vidalia put up eight points in the first quarter to give the Vikings a 20-0 to end the first quarter.

In the second quarter Sicily Island&8217;s Jeremy Oliver scored the first

two points in the game for the Tigers with 6:06 left. Teammate Karlos Gray would help out the effort with a 3-pointer to help out give the Tigers 11 points in just the first half of the game.

Vidalia&8217;s Antonio Sanders got the first 3-pointer of the game to help out Vidalia keep up the lead by a score of 33-11 to end the first half.

In the third quarter Vidalia&8217;s defense held the Tigers to just 12 points. Vidalia put up a team effort by scoring just 16 points, 12 of those points came from the paint.

Vidalia ended the third quarter of the game by a score of 49-23

In the fourth quarter Vidalia

scored eight points on the Sicily Islands defense. The Tigers got 13 points on the defense of Vidalia, but it would not be enough for the tigers as they got beat 57-36.

Jarvis Whitley was the leading scorer in the game with 15 points.
