Family tree is wonderful Christmas gift

With the holidays just around the corner, it is never too early to start thinking about your Christmas list. One of the nicest possible presents &045; and one you can easily create yourself &045; is a family tree chart. What better way to share and preserve all your hard work tracking down your ancestors.

In the last few years a number of computer programs have been produced that automatically assemble your information on to very professional looking forms. One of the most popular of these has been PAF Companion, a genealogy charting software application developed by the Family and Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The original PAF (Personal Ancestral File) Companion was easily used by both novice and experienced genealogists, but only printed in black and white. &160;Now PAF Companion 5.2 is being introduced and this software prints the family tree charts in color.

Color not only makes a nicer presentation but it may also be used to highlight specific family lines which makes navigating the tree as the family grows in size much easier.

PAF Companion 5.2 now offers three-color styles for ancestor, descendant, bow tie, hourglass and fan charts. Users can choose colors to trace gender, generation or lineage. &160;The program provides default colors used by professional genealogists or the users may choose their own color schemes.

A gradient option can be applied to any color chart to enhance visual appeal or you can still access the traditional black and white charts. Now you can create a traditional work or match a color scheme to individualize these works of art for each individual recipient.

Charts may be printed on any size paper (including tile pages to create wall charts) and users can share charts electronically by email or publish to the Web. Line widths are also customizable &045; a useful feature when printing the larger charts.If you are not familiar with the types of charts mentioned above, check out the sample charts and reports for PAF Companion 5.2 at www.progenysoftware.com/paf-companion-charts.html.

PAF Companion 5.2 comes bundled with Personal Ancestral File 5.2 and is sold for the $8.25 which includes shipping and handling at FamilySearch.org (click on homepage link for Free Family History Software) or by phone at 1-800-537-5971. &160;Ask for item #77065.

This reasonably priced software can help you create priceless heirlooms for your entire family and make not only great Christmas and birthday gifts, but even more treasured wedding and new baby gifts combining all the new family members. &160;
