Police arrest four for burglaries

vidalia &8212;Vidalia police have arrested four people in connection with a string of recent burglaries, chief Billy Hammers announced Wednesday.

Police have been investigating several car burglaries, a burglary at Vidalia Jr. High School and an attempted breaking and entering of an Oak Street home.

Three juveniles were arrested over the course of the investigation and have since been released on bond. A 17-year-old, Damien K. Davis, of 115 Gillespie Street in Vidalia, is still in custody on a charge of simple burglary on $585 bond.

Hammers said the arrests were due to the diligent effort of the officers working the cases.

&8220;It&8217;s not like this is C.S.I, you can&8217;t solve this is 30 minutes,&8221; he said. &8220;They were all wearing gloves, so there were no fingerprints, but the officers got enough information off of the streets to put it together.&8221;

Investigator Lt. Delayne Bush

and juvenile investigator Lt. Renda Singleton led the investigation.

Police recovered one rifle during the investigation.

Hammers said there is might be one more juvenile arrest forthcoming and feels like these arrests put to rest any fears of a crime wave.

&8220;There haven&8217;t been any burglaries since we got after them,&8221; he said.
