NATCHEZ &8212; Three juveniles and two adults have been arrested in connection with several house burglaries in the Sibley area, and sheriff&8217;s deputies hope the arrests will lead to more.
Jarrett Banks and Kirtis McCurdy, both 17, were charged Wednesday with burglary of a dwelling house in connection with an incident at a Lower Woodville Road home.
Rebecca A. Butler, 25, 236 Green Acres Road, was charged Thursday.
A warrant has also been issued for William Richmond McCurdy, 25, 236 Green Acres Road.
Calls from citizens in the Sibley area who saw the suspects leaving the house led to the arrests, SheriffRonny Brown said.
A 243 browning rifle, a Playstation 2 and money were taken. The suspects broke in by kicking in a front door, Brown said.
Investigations of the burglary led to the arrest of Riley Ray Dinan, 18, and Trovarius Carter, 17, for the burglary of a Cricket Lane house, also in the Sibley area. Money was taken from this house.
The ACSO has been investigating a rash of six burglaries in this area of the county since late January, and officials are attempting to link these suspects to several other burglaries. Most of the burglaries have been homes of the elderly. The only item recovered so far is a gun, Sheriff Brown said.
Several more warrants have been issued, and Brown is asking anyone with information about burglaries in the Sibley, Lake Montrose, U.S. 61 South and Lower Woodville Road areas or the whereabouts of McCurdy to call 601-442-2752.
The juveniles arrested have been charged as adults.
&8220;We want the public to be made aware that burglary of a dwelling house is a crime that is taken seriously by every officer at the sheriff&8217;s department,&8221; Brown said in a release.
The Sibley area has been organizing a Neighborhood Watch group that will kick off in March.
