NATCHEZ &8212; Emergystat, the ambulance company that removed itself from Natchez-Adams County&8217;s 911 rotation, reinstated itself Friday.

Police Chief Mike Mullins and Civil Defense Director George Souderes both received notification late Friday afternoon from the company.

Emergystat had notified both Mullins and Souderes by fax Jan. 23 the company would remove itself from the rotation until further notice.

Neither that fax nor Friday&8217;s notice included a reason for the change.

That temporarily left the city and county with two ambulance services in the rotation: American Medical Response and Metro Rural Ambulance Service.

The countywide dispatch center, located at the Natchez Police Department, rotates calls among ambulance companies in the rotation, a system that&8217;s been in place for more than 20 years.

In addition, patients can request a particular company or call the company directly.

Gary Bradford, regional operations director for Vernon, Ala.-based Emergystat, could not be reached for comment late Monday afternoon.
