NATCHEZ &8212; A man facing charges of aggravated assault is in a Jackson hospital as a result of an early Friday morning shooting in Adams County.
Edward Brinkley, 46, 11 Pinehill Drive, has a gunshot wound to the chest after the man he was allegedly beating with a metal tire tool shot him, Sheriff Ronny Brown said.
The Adams County Sheriff&8217;s Office got a call around 2 a.m. from Charles Wilson, 50, 214 Broadmoor Drive, who said a male had assaulted him. When deputies arrived Wilson was bleeding from the head. He was transported to Natchez Regional and later released.
A short time later, the ACSO got another call from a woman saying Brinkley had come home shot.
After talking to both parties, deputies connected both injuries to the same incident.
While Wilson was being assaulted, he went to another room to retrieve a gun, which he fired one time into the house, Brown said.
When contacted later, Wilson said he was unaware Brinkley had been hit by the bullet.
Brinkley had returned to his Pinehill Drive home but was later transported to a Jackson hospital. He has been charged with aggravated assault.
No charges have been filed against Wilson.
The two men were allegedly arguing about money, Brown said.
