Vikings fall in own tournament

VIDALIA — The West Feliciana Saints made short work of host Vidalia Friday night at the 2010 Vidalia High School Invitational with a 16-1 win over the Vikings in five innings.
“It was just a bad effort. We didn’t even compete tonight. But we’ll try again tomorrow,” Vidalia head coach Johnny Lee Hoffpaiur said.
West Feliciana, playing its second game of the day after taking on Minden, had 12 hits in the game while Vidalia managed just two hits.
Vidalia will take on Minden at 11 a.m. and Oakdale at 5:45 p.m. today. West Feliciana goes up against Trinity Episcopal today at 1:15 p.m.
Brookhaven Academy 14, Centreville 10
CENTREVILLE — Brookhaven Academy went into its non-district game at Centreville Academy without a single win this season.
But on Friday night in what turned out to be a high-scoring contest, the Cougars held on to defeat a good Tigers team to notch its first victory. Tripp Jolly was the winning pitcher for Brookhaven Academy.
Centreville Academy dropped to 6-5 on the season. The Tigers will look to get back on the winning track when they host Bowling Green today with the junior varsity game at 1 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 3 p.m.
Central Private 10, WCCA 1
Central Private 5, WCCA 3
BAKER, La. — The Central Private School Rebels, the top-ranked team in Class AA, swept a varsity doubleheader from the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams Friday afternoon.
Central Private won the first game in convincing fashion. Even though the second game was more competitive, the result was the same.
The Rebels improved to 11-5 overall and 5-1 in District 5-AA. WCCA fell to 1-11 overall and 0-6 in district play.
