NATCHEZ — Services for Kenneth Karl Kaiser Sr., 81, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, in Hazlehurst at the home of his son, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor and the Rev. Wayne Spencer officiating.
Burial will follow at the family plot at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr. Kaiser was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Natchez, the son of L.A. “Jack” Kaiser and Evelyn Blankenstein Kaiser. He was a 1949 graduate of Natchez High School, where he was an active member of the band. For more than 10 years he was known as “Dr. Car,” trusted by a number of his loyal customers. He worked for the Natchez Fire Department as a telecommunications operator for more than 11 years, retiring in 1995. He complied an E-911 directory of city and county roads that has been used by a number of people. He had a great passion and affinity for working on cars.
Mr. Kaiser was a member of St. Mary Basilica and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Loyd, Eddie Wise and Sheldon Kaiser; and one sister, Leona Dawes.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Bobbie Bird Kaiser; one daughter, Linda Lea Riley of Denham Springs, La.; one son, Kenneth Karl Kaiser Jr. and wife, Angie, of Hazlehurst; three grandsons, William F. Riley III, Benjamin L. Riley and Vincent A. Kaiser; one step-grandson, Holden L. Vanlandingham; one step-granddaughter, Jennifer Case and husband, Kelly; one great-grandson, Jacob Dylan Riley; one sister, Evelyn K. Hughes of Tupelo; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be close family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Kenneth K. Kaiser Sr.
