New year is full of possibilities

What a world of possibility lies before us as we begin a new year.
On both sides of the river, economic development deals are humming along, with the promise of more money invested in this community than we have seen in decades.
Natchez and Adams County officials are working with a Colorado fuel manufacturer Rentech on a deal that could bring 200 jobs &8212; and another 1,500 in construction jobs.
As city and county leaders seek incentives, Rentech is lining up investors for the project, which could put Natchez on the cutting edge of fuel technology.
Meanwhile, Vidalia officials have a commitment from a rubber recycling plant to move into the Vidalia Industrial Park.
The project would bring about 135 jobs, and Vidalia officials have another company interested in the community as well.
Meanwhile, interest in real estate in the Miss-Lou remains high, and developers are planning condo projects in Natchez, including the controversial bluff development.
But even that controversy seems to have died down as parties have come to the table for a compromise.
We have much to look forward to in 2006. Let&8217;s hope it is a successful year for all in the Miss-Lou.
