NATCHEZ &8212; Winds of about 30 miles per hour with gusts around 40 knocked down limbs across the Miss-Lou Thursday, but the weather wasn&8217;t as bad as it could have been, local officials said.
&8220;I was worried about a tornado,&8221; Concordia Parish Civil Defense Director Morris White said. &8220;The way the wind was coming in low, it was just right for it to come out of the clouds and scoop down.&8221;
White said he heard no reports of hail, downed trees or serious damage.
In Adams County Sheriff Ronny Brown said his officers responded to a few calls of downed limbs, but saw no major damage.
The strongest winds in Natchez were between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. according to the National Weather Service.
A little more than an inch of rain fell in Natchez and a little less fell in Vidalia.
White said the worst of the storm was the heavy rains that cut visibility.
&8220;It rained so hard you couldn&8217;t see,&8221; he said.
