NATCHEZ — Services for Fred Watkins Sr., 83, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ God’s Son with Pastor Samuel Watkins officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sunset View Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service today at the church.

The wake service was from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

Mr. Watkins was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Natchez, the son of Isaac and Elizabeth Morris Watkins.

Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Willie Mae Watkins; five brothers, James Ireland, Isaac Watkins Jr., Willie Watkins, John Watkins, Daniel Watkins Sr. and his sister, Elizabeth Wilson.

Survivors include his four sons, Fred Watkins Jr., Clyde Bernard Sr., Tyrone Bernard Sr. and Alonzo Bernard Sr.; two daughters, Elizabeth Norman and Rena Sago; six special grandchildren, Tywanda Berry, Rena Norman, Whitney Chester, Tyrone Bernard Jr., Alicia Bernard and Tameka McDaniel; one brother, Elder Samuel Watkins; one sister, Adell Quinn, his special friends, Monroe Elery, Raymond McNeely and Barbara Lee and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
