NATCHEZ — A group of Vidalia Lower Elementary School students cruised to McDonald’s in style Thursday morning in a silver limousine as a reward for being the top sellers in the school’s annual doughnut fundraiser.

Preschoolers Landon Ferguson, Addi Johnson, Christopher Schiele, kindergartener Logan Chapman, first-grader Jamarrion Hudnall and second-grader Felicity Merritt waved to some of their parents as they arrived at McDonald’s.

“I was so excited,” Ferguson said. “It was awesome.”

Merritt said riding in a limousine was “way cooler” than riding in any other car.

“I was like ‘Ah!’ when I saw it,” she said, throwing her hands in the air and jumping.

Johnson, Schiele, Chapman and Hudnall all said the best part of the trip was getting to eat at McDonald’s.

“I want to get a toy,” Schiele said.

Ferguson said riding in the limousine and being treated to McDonald’s was definitely worth selling and delivering all the doughnuts for the fundraiser.

Principal Debra Harris said students sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts each year to raise money for instructional supplies and materials for the school.

Vidalia Police Chief Arthur Lewis, Alderman Triand “Tron” McCoy and former Ferriday mayor Gene Allen sponsored the limousine for the students. Harris said she is grateful the men funded the limousine trip to reward the children for their hard work.
