Dart finds home improvement team hard at work

VIDALIA &8212; Alan Holland is a man on a mission.
Sunday afternoon, Holland and son Daniel were hard at work adding the frame of a new front porch onto the Pear Street house the family&8217;s occupied for several years.
Home improvement and repair work is nothing new to Holland. He works full time as a master plumber for Premo Stallone in Natchez and does the odd job on the side.
He also has done carpentry jobs, such as helping build Natchez&8217;s Mark Apartments.
When he occupied a mobile home in Natchez, he added at least two more rooms and a overhanging roof, &8220;so much it looked just like a house.&8221;
So perhaps it&8217;s no surprise that Holland estimates that even with a 13-year-old son&8217;s ballgames and a full-time job, he surmises it will take no more than a month, with good weather, to finish the porch and reroof his house.
&8220;I want to get those finished about the same time,&8221; he said. &8220;We can get it done.&8221;
