The Reign of Huey P. Long&8221; is White&8217;s most recent book outlining the time Long spent as governor then U.S. Senator.

&8220;With the book, I am trying to get as close to Huey Long&8217;s face as I can,&8221; White said. &8220;I let him tell his story in his own words and let the reader make the decision.&8221;

&8220;Kingfish,&8221; a political biography following the dates from 1928 to 1935, telling the story of the man who almost changed democracy, White said.

&8220;I don&8217;t think the public is aware how dangerous Huey Long was to democracy,&8221; White said. &8220;I wrote the book more as a novel to make it an interesting story.&8221;

White, a native of Williamsburg, Va., is the Marjory B. Ourso Excellence in Teaching Professor at Louisiana State University and teaches in LSU&8217;s Public Administration Institute. The event is free.

and is open to the public.
