Town hall meeting needs citizens

Normally, we&8217;ll tell you that surprises in government are not good things. But tonight, we hope we&8217;re proven wrong.
If you&8217;re like us, you aren&8217;t really sure what to expect from tonight&8217;s town hall meeting in Natchez. Without any specific details, we&8217;re expecting good news and a good exchange of ideas.
The event has been billed as an opportunity to share and discuss views about the city&8217;s plans for the future.
Yet the agenda also features several guests, too, which leads us to believe, perhaps, some kind of announcement or plan may be discussed.
The head of a New Orleans-based design research firm and two other guests are expected to speak at the meeting, Natchez Mayor Phillip West said.
Tonight&8217;s event is free at the Natchez Convention Center, and the public is encouraged to attend. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.
Even though we aren&8217;t sure what the purpose and agenda is, communication is always a good thing, and we hope lots of community members participate.
And we hope any surprises that may arise are good news for the city and its residents.
