NATCHEZ &8212; Life after high school got off to a rough start for seniors and friends after a graduation party on Martin Luther King Jr. Street early Saturday morning.
Two teens &8212; both bystanders to an argument &8212; were shot and transported to the hospital.
A 14-year-old female was grazed in the head with a bullet, and a 17-year-old male was shot through the leg. Both were treated and released from the hospital.
Police Chief Mike Mullins wouldn&8217;t release the names of the victims.
Investigations are ongoing, but Mullins said police have a suspect.
The party was at the Adams County Voters League building at 1192 Martin Luther King St. Investigators found shell casings on the building&8217;s lot and across the street. A handgun was recovered from the lot across the street.
&8220;It appears that two subjects were firing across the street at each other,&8221; Mullins said. &8220;The two victims were bystanders. They were not intended victims. There were a lot of people out there.&8221;
No arrest has been made, and Mullins said investigators were working to collect evidence.
The shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. The graduation party ended at midnight.
