BROOKHAVEN &8212; They say revenge is a dish best served cold.

The Natchez 12-year-old Dixie Youth All-Stars would take it anyway they could get it.

Natchez rolled through Brookhaven American 9-2 Wednesday night, two days after a 10-inning marathon sent them to the loser&8217;s bracket after a 4-3 loss.

The win gave Natchez the subdistrict title, and will send them to Summit for a best-of-three series that will begin Friday night.

The win was sweet for Natchez coach Donald, &8220;Spanky&8221; Brumfield.

&8220;They came out and hit the ball in the first inning and got two (runs), then got two more in the second inning,&8221; he said. &8220;Then we just kept getting more here and there. We had some close calls, but they came together and got the job done.&8221;

Jake Brumfield took the win on the mound in four innings of work. He struck out seven batters. Christopher Perry came on in relief and struck out one in two innings.

Perry also drilled a home run in the bottom of the fifth to erase all doubt.

&8220;Jake did a really good job on the mound,&8221; Spanky Brumfield said. &8220;We decided he was tired after the fourth, so we brought Christopher in there. He did a great job. He also came in there in the bottom of the fifth and hit a monster shot.&8221;

The best-of-three series with Summit will include at least one game in Natchez, as the two will trade blows Saturday night at 6:30 here in Natchez. The final game site will be determined by a coin flip.

Heading into the subdistrict as defending state champs, Natchez took one loss during the tournament. Spanky Brumfield said it wouldn&8217;t affect his team in any way in the future.

&8220;They&8217;re just little boys,&8221; he said. &8220;They&8217;re going to make mistakes. You wouldn&8217;t even know they lost that game now.&8221;
