PORT GIBSON —The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office continues its search for a suspect accused of shooting an Alcorn State University student Wednesday.
Walter Morris, 19, of McComb, is listed in stable condition at University Medical Center in Jackson after being shot once in the chest at a former plantation called The Ark at approximately 2 a.m., Wednesday, Claiborne County Sheriff Frank Davis said Friday.
The Ark is located along U.S. 61, three miles south of Port Gibson. The Alcorn State University baseball team was reportedly hosting a party there.
“Several fights had taken place among students before (the shooting) happened,” Davis said. “We’re actively investigating the case.”
Davis said currently no arrests are pending and no charges have been filed.
