RAYMOND — Trae Muse led Central Hinds Academy with a game-high 21 points as the Cougars rolled to a 58-27 win over the Tensas Academy Chiefs Saturday afternoon.
Central Hinds’ defense held a depleted Tensas Academy team that was without the injured Blaine Fletcher to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters. The Cougars led the Chiefs 16-7 at the end of the first quarter.
The onslaught continued over the next two quarters. The Cougars scored 18 points in the second quarter and 21 points in the third quarter. The Chiefs, on the other hand, had just three points in the second quarter and seven in the third and trailed 55-17 when the third quarter came to an end.
With most of Central Hinds’ starters on the bench in the fourth quarter, Tensas Academy managed to outscore the Cougars 10-3. Brad Williamson and Ben Davis had 13 points each for the Cougars.
Tensas Academy was led by Jake Emfinger with nine points and Farrel Keahey with eight points. The Chiefs play host to Central Hinds Monday night.
