NATCHEZ — At Thursday’s annual meeting of the Historic Natchez Foundation, which was hosted at Elms Court, 15 awards were given to those who contributed in 2011 to preservation and progress of Natchez.

Those who received the Mary Postlethwaite History Award included:

•Kathleen Jenkins, preserving and interpreting Natchez history

•David Gardner, the Natchez Trails Project

•John Holyoak, Natchez Trails Project

•General Services Administration, the World War I plaques at the Federal Courthouse

Those who received the George and Ethel Kelly Restoration Award included:

•Kirk Bondurant and Bruce Zabov, the Staniforth House at 315 N. Rankin St.

•Bobby and Grace Braswell, the Middleton House at 306 Jefferson St.

•Esther Carpenter, The Elms at 801 Washington St.

•Marc and Chesney Doyle, the Boatner House, 704 State St.

•Kenneth and Diana Haik, Ravenna, 8 Ravenna Lane

•John and Marcia McCullough, 30 Cemetery Road

•Al Walker, The Little Brick, 111 S. Rankin St.

Those who received the Special Merit Award included:

•John and Marcia McCullough, 409 S. Pearl St.

•Margaret Perkins and Rene Adams, Stockton House at 307 N. Wall St.

•Robin and Stephanie Punches, Peter Isler House, 508 Washington St.

The foundation’s new deputy director, Trevor Brown, was also introduced at a cocktail reception preceding the meeting.

Brown, 32, a Baton Rouge native, has worked since 2006 for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History’s Gulf Coast office.

He will take his post as deputy director in March.
