NATCHEZ — A bank account to raise funds for a Natchez man who died last week has been set up at the Bank of Franklin.
Jason Brown, 33, died of an aneurism and blood clots Wednesday, Jan. 11.
A roadblock on 84th Street in Washington Monday helped raised $1,000 for his family to pay for funeral expenses, said Elsie Hall.
Hall said Ladies Auxiliary, the Natchez Fire Department and Liberty Road Fire Department organized the roadblock.
Hall drove Brown to school every day while he grew up in the Natchez school system and said she hopes to raise an additional $2,500 for the expenses.
Donations can be made to any Bank of Franklin location in the name of John C. Wilson, preacher at Cranfield Baptist Church in Roxie.
Hall said she hopes to raise enough money by Thursday to have the service at Marshall’s Funeral Home on Friday or Saturday.
