VIDALIA &8212; When the Maze Craze corn reaches its peak, the Miss-Lou will have a new kind of puzzle to explore.
Maze Craze, a cornstalk-walled maze weaving through a corn field, is sure to offer something different, maze organizer Phyllis Parker said. The 6-foot tall corn maze has been flagged and cut in a shape to resemble a hot-air balloon, she said.
&8220;This is our first year to try this,&8221; Parker said. &8220;We talked to other people in other areas who were doing it and decided we would try it too. It&8217;s just something different.&8221;
The maze will open Sept. 16 and run through Nov. 4 in a Vidalia cornfield located just three miles west of the Mississippi River bridge from Natchez.Hours of operation will be 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday through Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The maze is also available for church groups, clubs and daycare classes, Parker said.
The giant puzzle will give people of all ages a walk through a fun, interactive puzzle where the goal is to weave your way through the twisting rows to find a way out, Parker said.
Navigation of three mazes will be available at the maze craze. Part of the big maze will include a haunted maze. Campfire pits, a munchkin maze, a pumpkin patch and
a soybean maze for young children will be available.
&8220;It&8217;s something different and after we got some information we thought we would try it,&8221; Parker said. &8220;It&8217;s going to be very interesting. The corn is up and coming and we&8217;re just hoping people will show up.&8221;
