BAKER, La. — Lester Wells scored two goals for Adams County Christian School and keeper Dylan Galbreath had a strong night as the Rebels beat Central Private 5-2 late Wednesday night.
Galbreath only allowed two of 28 shots on goal by Central Private to go in, and head coach Jimmy Allgood said he was pleased with his team’s second-half adjustments.
“In the first half, the passes weren’t as sharp and crisp, and in the second half, they really came together.
“The passing and shooting improved, and Dylan did a great job. His pure athletic skills and nose for the ball (were on display).”
Wells got things started with ACCS’s first goal in the 17th minute of play, and Justin Allgood scored the Rebels’ second goal 27 minutes into the game.
In the second half, Lester added a goal at the 42-minute mark, and Kevin Campbell scored 57 minutes into play. Nathan Lamiter rounded out ACCS’s scoring with a goal in the 72nd minute of play.
“At the midway point of the season, I think our guys are really gelling,” Allgood said. “They’re mainly doing the simple things: passing, trapping and taking better shots on goal.”
Allgood said the reason for the improvement was the team’s focal point on passing during practice of late.
“We’ve been doing a lot more passing drills, and that has helped us on keeping possession of the ball,” Allgood said.
“I think our guys are starting to understand the fact that it takes 11 to accomplish the task. Overall, they’re working harder and getting better.”
ACCS (9-2-1, 5-1) will host Laurel Christian Saturday.
