NATCHEZ &8212; Several suspects involved in a rash of residential burglaries have been arrested over the past couple of days, Maj. Jody Waldrop of The Adams County Sheriff&8217;s Office said.

ACSO and Natchez Police Department worked jointly on the cases, Waldrop said.

&8220;House burglaries are generally a random act, but when we do start seeing a pattern, we have to crack down on them before they cause any more damage,&8221; Waldrop said.

The burglaries stem back to around July 14, he said, along with some newer ones. The burglaries occurred on Old Country Club Drive, Roseland Forrest Drive, Dave Levite Road and two on Martin Luther King Drive from July 14 through Aug. 30.

The same people were involved in the burglaries, he said, and arrests have been made in four of the cases.

&8220;Most of what is being taken in these burglaries were firearms,&8221; Waldrop said. &8220;They&8217;re easy to sell. People want guns to hunt with, and when someone&8217;s selling a $500 rifle for $100, it&8217;s an easy sell.&8221;

So far, they have recovered 10 stolen guns, mostly hunting rifles, he said.

Demetrice Scott, 19, 31 Green Acres Road, Darrell Owens, 23, 24 Azalea Lane and Roy Flowers, 17, 1461 Martin Luther King Road were arrested in connection with the cases.

Four juveniles, from 13 to 16 years old, were also arrested, Waldrop said.

Charges range from burglary of a dwelling to receiving stolen property and being an accessory after the fact, he said.

The Natchez Police Department also made an arrest in one of the cases, he said.

Some related cases are still under investigation.

&8220;We&8217;re investigating other cases we believe these suspects were involved in committing,&8221; Waldrop said.

He said it was a positive move when law enforcement had a chance to get guns off the streets.

&8220;Any time guns are stolen, that&8217;s just another possibility of someone being shot or killed by one of them, especially juveniles,&8221; he said.
