NATCHEZ &8212; Jaqueline Thompson, the victim of a possible homicide, was a good mother and a good wife, relatives said Monday.
Thompson, 35, 48 B Proby Road, died Sunday from a gunshot wound to the head.
Thompson was killed early Sunday morning, sheriff&8217;s deputies said. A juvenile girl in the house was sexually assaulted, they said.
There were signs of breaking and entering, deputies said, and the perpetrators may have known the victim.
The case is still under investigation.
Adams County Sheriff&8217;s Maj. Jody Waldrop said Monday they had several leads and were following up on them.
&8220;We are working around the clock,&8221; Waldrop said. &8220;We are pursuing every lead that comes in. We&8217;ve interviewed multiple people throughout the day.&8221;
The state crime lab has all the evidence they and the sheriff&8217;s office collected over the past two days, he said, and the sheriff&8217;s office is waiting on those results.
A Natchez native, Jaqueline graduated from Jefferson County High School, her husband Richard Thompson said Monday.
She worked as a pharmacy tech at Walgreens Pharmacy and had two children, one boy and one girl.
Jaqueline and Richard had been married for eight years, he said.
&8220;She was a wonderful wife, and she was a good mom, too,&8221; Thompson said. &8220;She was real nice, real dependable. She was my backbone. Everything I needed to know, she had the information.&8221;
Terry White, Jaqueline&8217;s brother-in-law, said her children loved softball, and she helped coach a softball team.
&8220;You&8217;ll never meet a finer person,&8221; White said. &8220;If you asked her for something, it was done. That&8217;s family.&8221;
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, Thompson said.
An autopsy was performed Monday night, despite reports from Coroner James Lee that it occurred Sunday.
