Anders in lead

Andy Anders took the district 21 state representative position in Concordia Parish Saturday night.
In Concordia Parish, he took 65.61 percent of the votes, but district-wide, he garnered 52 percent at press time. At the time, 51 of 70 precincts had reported.
“I don’t want to comment until all the results are in,” Anders said Saturday night.
James E. Lee had 24 percent of the votes district-wide, and Samuel Thomas had 23 percent.
In Concordia Parish, Lee had 25.94 percent of the votes and Thomas had 8.45 percent.
Ricky Lee Raven won the District 4, place A position on the school board with 696 votes, or 70.16 percent of the votes.
“I’m elated,” Raven said Saturday night. “I’m real happy. Real proud of the turnout and the confidence the voters showed in me. I’m real thankful to the voters for getting out and voting.”
Fred T. Butcher won District 1, place A on the school board with 749 votes, or 52.23 percent of the votes.
Daryle W. Price won school board District 4, place B with 546 votes, 68.85 percent.
Heath Edwards won in the race for Ridgecrest police chief, 98 to 90 votes.
“I’m excited,” Edwards said. “I have been living here all my life, and I look forward to doing what I can do. And I thank the people that supported me.”
The position for Ridgecrest alderman will be decided in a run-off, with Douglas J. Tisdale getting 89 votes, 45.88 percent, and Willena C. Varnado getting 50, or 25.77 percent.
