FERRIDAY — Services for Raymon Kelley Pecanty, 86, of Monterey, who died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, will be at 10 a.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Russell Crum, the Rev. Gordan Finley and the Rev. Lloyd Trisler officiating.
Burial will follow at Green Cemetery in Monterey under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Mr. Pecanty was born Nov. 15, 1925. He was retired from T.L. James Company, Inc., and was a member of Monterey Disciples of Christ in Monterey. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, hunting and loved bluegrass music.
Mr. Pecanty served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Aleen Pecanty; two sisters, Maudell Champlin and Annie Mae McNeely; and seven brothers, David Pecanty, Ernest Pecanty, Elbert Pecanty, Harvey Pecanty, John Pecanty, Clyde Pecanty and Wesley Pecanty.
Survivors include one daughter, Shellie Ray Burley; two sons, Kelley Gile “Skeeter” Pecanty and wife, Pat, and David Leo Pecanty; six grandchildren, Karen Matherne and husband, Werner, Dane Burley, Kevin Burley and wife, Tiffany, Jennie Kelly and husband, Tracy, Gwinn Lipsey and husband, Casey, and William Pecanty and wife, Amie; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Frank Calkins, Lynn White, Donnie White, T.D. Pugh, Glenn McNeely and John Pecanty.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie McNeely, Gene Wilson, Palmer Osborn, Glenn Green Sr. and Kyler McNeely.
