NATCHEZ — Services for Aaron Henderson Burris, 91, of Jackson, La., formerly a longtime resident of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, in Baton Rouge, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Herbert Cupit, Elder Jerry Williams and Elder Floyd Wilkinson officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Burris was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Franklin County, the son of Dempsey Eddie Burris and Louvina Elizabeth Burris.
Mr. Burris served in the U.S. Army Corporal Engineer 4th Armored Division during World War II. He was retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and National Life and Accident Insurance Company.
Mr. Burris was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Maidee L. Burris and Zuleika “Judy” Smith Burris; three brothers, J.D. Burris, W.L. Burris and J.F. Burris; one sister, Hazel Burris; and one granddaughter, Shannon Crum.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Dianne Burris of Baton Rouge; one son, Danny Ray Burris and wife, Charlotte, of Smithdale; two stepdaughters, Shirley Smith of Meadville and Annette Ainsworth and husband, Donald, all of Natchez; one stepson, William “Bill” Smith and wife, Brigette, of Meadville; one brother, Vance Burris and wife, Flora Mae, of Monroe; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Charles Wilson, Purvis Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Tommy Alford, Garrett Windham and Michael Shipp.
