Number game means good news

Coke turned 100. Ken Beesley won number 200. And Rentech may be up to 20,000.

Last week was one of numbers in the Miss-Lou, good numbers. Let&8217;s review the digits that filled the week with good news.

4 The Natchez Coca-Cola company was founded as a family business in 1906, and a century later the goals are the same.

Employees are more than just workers at the company, sales center manager Moe LeBlanc said.

From 100 employees years ago to 42 now, Coke has been an important part of the Natchez community for longer than any of us can remember. It&8217;s provided jobs and been quick to lend a hand for community fundraisers. We hope they&8217;ll be around another 100 years.

4 Most everyone associated with Cathedral football knows coach Beesley isn&8217;t going to break out in an ear-to-ear smile. And Friday night was no different, though Beesley&8217;s leadership was reason enough for everyone around him to be plain giddy.

Friday night&8217;s win over Enterprise-Lincoln was Beesley&8217;s 200th career win, a mighty feat. But it is not the number that counts, it is the lives touched. With a new team every year, Beesley molds lives whether it is through a win or a loss.

4 Adams County officials are hopeful that Rentech may double its production plans from 10,000 barrels a day to 20,000. The new plans for the coal-to-liquid fuel project would mean a larger facility and possibly more employees.

Rentech is already the biggest thing on the horizon for the Miss-Lou. A bigger Rentech could have an immeasurable effect.

Let&8217;s keep our fingers crossed that the numbers keep going up and that next week&8217;s news is even better.
