FERRIDAY &8212; Don&8217;t count &8220;The Killer&8221; out just yet.
A few fans said they are proud to have Jerry Lee Lewis as a native son and can&8217;t wait for his latest album, &8220;Last Man Standing,&8221; to come to Ferriday.
&8220;I&8217;m really excited about Jerry Lee&8217;s new album,&8221; former mayor and musician Glen McGlothin said. &8220;I&8217;ve got several of his old singles records, albums and CDs, and I can&8217;t wait to add this one to my collection.&8221;
The album, released on Sept. 26, features 22 duets featuring a number of artists like Willie Nelson, Kid Rock, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton, just to name a few.
Lewis&8217;s sister, Frankie Jean, said Lewis is very excited about the new album as well.
&8220;The last time I talked to him he told me that all the people who helped put the album together did a fine job,&8221; Frankie Jean said.
Frankie Jean said although Lewis loves his hometown she does not think he will ever come back.
&8220;He&8217;ll never be back because he&8217;s been so mistreated,&8221; Frankie Jean said.
&8220;Ferriday has not given him the recognition he deserves.&8221;
Lewis was inducted into Ferriday&8217;s Delta Music Museum when it first opened in March 2002.
Museum Director Judith Bingham said she cannot wait to stock the shelves at the museum with the new album.
&8220;All of us at the museum can&8217;t wait to get it and we&8217;re just really proud to call him a native son of Ferriday,&8221; Bingham said.
McGlothin said he will always admire Lewis even if &8220;The Killer&8221; decides never to come back.
&8220;I know he&8217;s had his ups and downs with Ferriday, but I still think he&8217;s a hell of an entertainer,&8221; McGlothin said.
&8220;I hope everybody buys it because I think everyone will be pleased.&8221;
