Person who knows must solve crime

Someone knows something. It&8217;s the crux of many criminal investigations. And, we suspect, that premise will be the key to solving a rash of vandalism in the county.

In recent months vandals have periodically pulled up traffic signs from county roadways.

Harmless fun?

Hardly.

What may seem like a relatively harmless youthful prank could wind up being deadly.

The simple prank of pulling up a stop sign can be much more costly than it seems.

First, the signs cost money. That money comes from your pocket book.

In the latest incidents not only was a sign pulled up, sheriff deputies believe the sign was used to smash the window of a county-owned tractor.

The price tag for that little prank is going to be $700. It&8217;s no longer just a harmless prank; it&8217;s theft of taxpayer money.

The biggest fear we have, however, is of losing something that money cannot buy &8212; a human life.

Think of how easy it would be for a fatal accident to occur if someone crosses an intersection at full speed because of a missing stop sign.

The results could be tragic and all because someone thought it would be &8220;fun&8221; to go steal some public property. The &8220;fun&8221; is a crime and it needs to be solved before someone gets hurt.

Someone knows something and they should come forward and speak up before someone&8217;s life is resting on their conscience forever.
