NATCHEZ &8212; Miss-Lou dogs can strut their stuff in costume or show off their talents this weekend.

The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society&8217;s fourteenth annual Bark in the Park will be held at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Owners can register their dogs for $1 per event, and spectators can bring a lawn chair and watch the show for $4 for adults or $1 for children. Dogs can participate in contests to win trophies for categories like &8220;most friendly,&8221; &8220;most talented,&8221; &8220;best costume,&8221; &8220;best mutt&8221; and &8220;cutest puppy.&8221;

All proceeds, from the entrance fees to the concession stand revenue goes to the humane society.

&8220;Every bit of it helps pay the bills,&8221; Director Pat Cox said. &8220;It&8217;s one of our biggest fundraisers. It&8217;s been done well through the years &8212; it&8217;s a great thing.&8221;

Cox said last year, the event brought in a record amount, but she doesn&8217;t have any specifics in mind for Saturday&8217;s event.

&8220;We don&8217;t set goals, we&8217;re just grateful for what we get,&8221; Cox said.

Secretary Linda Harper said the event is always a hit. Sometimes, they get to see old friends, she said.

&8220;It&8217;s really fun,&8221; Harper said. &8220;We get to see adopted pets come back. Some have been dressed as bumble bees, cowboys &8212; people get very inventive. They just do all sorts of things.&8221;
