NATCHEZ — Services for Bernice Wallace, 85, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with presiding elder, the Rev. George Tyler, officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. Wallace was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Adams County, the daughter of Tommy Willams and Josephine Fowler Williams. She was a retired educator, having taught for 27 years in the Concordia Parish school system and entrepreneur/owner of the Wallace Drive-in and Wallace Dry Cleaners.

Mrs. Wallace was a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harden Wallace Sr.; and one brother, Tommy “T.J.” Williams.

Survivors include seven children, Josephine Cottingham and the Rev. Dr. Darlene Pickett, both of Natchez, Dr. Laverne Little and husband, Ronnie, and Ruth Dianne Wallace-Harris, all of Chicago, Harden Wallace Jr. and Tommy “Tom” Lee Wallace and wife, Yvonne, and T. Keith Wallace, all of Jackson; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Prater of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
