MONROE, La. &8212; On the same night that Trinity Episcopal, the No. 1 team in Class A, fell to Porters Chapel at home, the River Oaks Mustangs reminded everyone who the defending state champions are as they defeated the Huntington Hounds 30-7 Friday night.
What was supposed to have been a close game between Class A&8217;s No. 2 and No. 3 teams was indeed that way until River Oaks (9-1) scored 15 points in the fourth quarter.
For the Hounds (9-2), it was the second time in three weeks they lost to a team that knows how to win big games.
Cody Trichell played a big role in the Mustangs&8217; win with two touchdowns and two two-point conversion runs. Zach Scogin had a 34-yard touchdown run and Drew McGuffee scored from three yards out.
Huntington trailed 15-0 until Terrence Johnson threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Colin Stacey in the second quarter. Josh Lee&8217;s extra point made it a 15-7 game, which stayed that way until River Oaks pulled away in the fourth quarter.
