NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Albert “Junebug” Carr Jr., 62, of Cordova, Tenn., formerly of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, in Cordova, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church No. 2 with the Rev. Walter Sago officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Carr was born Jan. 6, 1949, in Natchez, the son of Albert and Lillian Givens Carr. He was a 1967 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School and a 1973 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University. He was the first black lieutenant at the Natchez Fire Department and later became manager of CLEO in Memphis, Tenn. He was retired.
Mr. Carr was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church No. 2. He enjoyed cooking and ministering to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry W. Carr.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Carr; three sons, Albert III, Keith Snell and Jason Brooks; one daughter, Chantel Sander; four grandchildren; one devoted sister, Betty Joyce Morris and husband, Milton; two devoted brothers, David Taylor and wife, Gloria, and Ray E. Carr Sr. and wife, Renné; one special sister, Lena Butler and husband, Leon; two uncles; three aunts; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
