NATCHEZ — Services for James Green, 79, of Sibley, who died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Logan officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Green was born Sept. 16, 1932, in Sibley, the son of William Green and Sarah Hargraves Green.
Mr. Green served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Cologne Inc. of Houma, La., after 38 years of service as a construction worker. He was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Joyce “Pat” Green Carson; and one granddaughter, Genesa Green.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta Ivory Green; three sons, James D. Green of Houston, Texas, Jerome Green and wife, Anita, and Efrem Green and wife, Sharon, all of Natchez; three daughters, Roberta Kelly of Jackson, Peggy Green and Jennifer Robinson, both of Natchez; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Butler and husband, Wash, Eva Mae Smith, all of Sibley, Willie B. Woods of Natchez and Bertha Davis of New Orleans; four sisters-in-law, Carrie Green of Arkansas, Alberta Ivory Natchez, Shelia Ivory of New Orleans and Alma Sanders Green of California; one brother-in-law, Dan Ivory of New Orleans; and a number of other relatives and friends.
