This parade must be the best ever

It&8217;s the &8220;if you build it they will come&8221; mentality.
The tourism department has stepped out of its job description to build this year&8217;s Christmas parade, trusting that the entries and the spectators will do the rest.
An early October announcement that there may not be any parade at all this year sucked the wind out of many local holiday plans. Residents were aghast. Children&8217;s dreams were dashed.
But now it&8217;s back on, and it&8217;s up to the community to make the parade worth saving in years to come.
Every club, church group, day care and children&8217;s group is capable of putting together a float, riding in the parade and having some fun.
A parade isn&8217;t a parade without entries, and the more the better.
Members of the community raised their hands in support of the Christmas parade, now it&8217;s time to prove just how interested they are.
Those not riding in the holiday hoopla can do their part by lining the streets, cheering and collecting flying candy.
The parade got a second chance this year, but the tourism department has already said they won&8217;t tackle the job again.
Unless the event shows growth, there may not be any takers when it comes time to plan next year.
