VIDALIA &8212; Concordia Parish Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber Jr. said he is optimistic about the Nov. 7 voter turnout.
Webber predicts 30 or 40 percent of the parish&8217;s registered voters will visit the polls in six days.
&8220;The reason I think voter turnout will be this good is because people are voting in the state Representative and the U.S. Congress (Representative) race,&8221; Webber said.
Concordia Parish Registrar Golda Ensminger said there are 13, 372 registered voters in the parish.
&8220;I&8217;m actually predicting 40 to 45 percent voter turnout for Concordia Parish,&8221; Ensminger said.
Ballots for all of Concordia Parish will list candidates for U.S. Representative including Republican Rodney Alexander, Democrat Gloria Williams Hearn, Libertarian Brent Sanders and Independent John Watts.
People in Concordia Parish will also vote on a candidate for the State Representative race between Andy Anders from Ferriday and Samuel Thomas from Tallulah, plus eight constitutional amendments.
Voters in Ridgecrest will also vote for an alderman candidate between Republican Douglas J. Tisdale and Democrat Willena C. Varnado and voters in Monterey will vote on whether or not to approve a 10-year, 10-mill property tax increase to help fund the Monterey Fire Protection District-1 facilities.
Voters can view eight constitutional amendments on the Louisiana Secretary of State&8217;s Web site at www.sos.gov/elections/2006-11-07-ca.htm.
Polls open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
