Firefighters recognized for rescue

NATCHEZ &8212; Four Natchez firefighters received commendations and accolades at the Tuesday meeting of the mayor and board of aldermen.
Fire Chief Paul K. Johnson asked the board to recognize Lt. Leonard Rice, Lt. Wayne Tullos, firefighter David Hugg and firefighter Darrell Carter for exemplary work in the line of duty.
&8220;On October 6, Station 2 reported a structure fire at 600 Lower Woodville Road,&8221; Johnson said.
When the firefighters arrived, &8220;there was heavy fire in the kitchen area. The firemen on the scene were advised that Quentin Clemens was in the structure,&8221; Johnson said.
&8220;Under heavy smoke conditions, the firemen entered the house and rescued the victim from a hallway and sought immediate medical attention for him.&8221;
