VIDALIA &8212; Six-year-old Micayla Buckley likes candy, but she&8217;s not selfish.
The world has enough candy to go around, so this year, she shared.
The Vidalia Lower Elementary kindergarten student was a Chinese doll for Halloween, but for children at a local hospital, she was more like an angel.
&8220;I gave the kids some candy at the hospital,&8221; Buckley said. &8220;Because they didn&8217;t have any candy.&8221;
To be more exact, Micayla and her mother took an idea they heard on the radio, asked local grocery stores for donations and distributed bags of goodies at hospitals and the Natchez Children&8217;s Home.
They visited with four children at the hospital, all who said &8220;thank you,&8221; Micayla said.
And she wasn&8217;t scared about visiting the hospital at all, Micayla said.
&8220;She&8217;s very brave,&8221; her mother, Paula Froust, said.
&8220;A couple of days after she said, &8216;mama, I want to do something like that again.&8217;&8221;
The new plans are for Thanksgiving &8212; mother and daughter will hand out fruit at local nursing homes.
Micayla is the granddaughter of Anne Arceneaux of Vidalia.
