Argument leads to shooting

NATCHEZ &8212; A Vidalia man was shot when an argument in a vehicle escalated and weapons were drawn.
Troy Fair has been treated and released from Natchez Regional Hospital following the early Sunday morning incident.
Fair, Justin Dwayne Rodgers and another man were in a parked vehicle on Grant Street in Natchez around 5 a.m. Sunday, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
&8220;There was an altercation for unknown reasons inside the car,&8221; Mullins said. &8220;The suspect, allegedly in the front seat on the passenger side, pulled a knife. The man in backseat pulled a gun.&8221;
Through a struggle, the man in the front &8212; Rodgers &8212; retrieved the gun.
Fair &8212; in the backseat &8212; attempted to get out of the vehicle, Mullins said.
Rodgers allegedly fired the gun, hitting Fair in the back.
Rodgers, 20, 139 Louisiana 137, Vidalia, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault.
No bond has been set.
Fair was transported to Natchez Regional by ambulance. He was released Monday.
Mullins said the victim told investigators the men had been drinking.
All three men in the car were acquaintances.
