The Porters Chapel Eagles looked like they were on their way to defeating the ACCS Rebels. But with seven seconds left, Matthew Marks drove to the lane and passed the ball to Dustin Carroll, who made the game-winning shot as time expired for a dramatic one-point win at the Tensas Shootout, 40-39.
Marks led ACCS with 20 points and the Rebels needed every one of them because Porters Chapel got 20 points from Hales (no first name given).
The Rebels took a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Porters Chapel kept cutting the deficit throughout the remained of the game and came within seconds of leaving the Tensas Academy gym with the win.

NATCHEZ — The Natchez High Lady Bulldogs let an opportunity to upset Forest Hill slip away late in the game as the Lady Rebels rallied for a 41-39 win in a Division 6-5A game Friday night.
“We let them off the hook,” Lady Bulldogs head coach Sue Johnson said. “We had a three-point lead and we turned the ball over. We didn’t execute. So we’ve just got to go back to the drawing board and work on what we’re messing on.”
Forest Hill (13-1, 1-0) took a slim 22-20 lead over Natchez High at halftime, but, as coach Johnson pointed out, the third quarter is where she felt the Lady Bulldogs lost the game.
The Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Bulldogs 11-5 in that pivotal quarter to take a 33-25 lead. The Lady Bulldogs tried to rally in the fourth quarter, only to come up a little short.
“We did play hard in the first half, but we’ve got to play four quarters,” Johnson said.
Alia Frank had a game-high 16 points and Ke’Airra Jones had 13 points to lead Natchez High (5-5, 1-1). Shrica Ward led Forest Hill with 13 points.
