VICKSBURG — The Trinity Episcopal Saints have a big District 6-A matchup against Huntington today, and on Monday they tuned up for it by destroying Porter’s Chapel 15-1 in a non-district contest.

The Saints once again got great pitching from Jordan Dossett and some big hits throughout the lineup to destroy the Eagles by 14 runs in a game that was called after the sixth inning due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Dossett pitched a complete game for the Saints, striking out nine Porter’s Chapel batters and allowing just four hits.

The only run the Eagles scored was on a solo home run by Reed Gordon in the bottom of the first inning.

While Dossett was dispatching the Porter’s Chapel batters, the Saints offense got off to a fast start in giving the senior all the run support he would need.

Trevor Faust hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning to give Trinity an early 3-0 lead, and Kent King duplicated that feat with a three-run shot of his own in the top of the second inning.

Both Faust and King finished 2 for 4 in the game.

The Saints added three more runs in the top of the fifth inning and put the game away for good with a six spot in the top of the sixth.

In addition to Faust and King’s great days at the plate, Trinity was led by Sky Logan, who was 3 for 4, and Jake Winston, who was 2 for 4.

Daniel Dunaway also had a triple in the game for the Saints.

Trinity got 11 hits in the game and was helped out by six Porter’s Chapel errors.

John Michael Harris took the loss for the Eagles.

Trinity (10-5) will try to remain undefeated in district play when the Saints travel to Ferriday to take on Huntington today.

The junior varsity game will begin at 5 p.m. and the varsity game will follow at 7 p.m.
