VIDALIA &8212; Vidalia Viking head
coach Dee Faircloth has had plenty to worry about over the past several seasons, but a new headache has emerged in recent weeks.
The Vikings are moving up a classification next season.
Head coach Dee Faircloth said he got the news that Vidalia would move up to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association&8217;s Class 3A last week, and it was confirmed earlier this week.
&8220;It&8217;s a done deal,&8221; he said Tuesday. &8220;We&8217;re definitely going up to 3A next year. All we&8217;re trying to figure out now is what district we&8217;re going to be in.&8221;
Vidalia will find itself in either in the North or Central district, and Faircloth said he definitely has a preference out of the two.
&8220;Oh, I&8217;d rather be in the Central,&8221; he said. &8220;The North is stacked, and our shortest trip would be 75 miles. The Central the travel distance wouldn&8217;t be quite as bad.&8221;
Faircloth said he planned to go before the LHSAA board next week to plead his case.
&8220;We&8217;ll do some politicking next week,&8221; he said. &8220;There&8217;s no question about that.&8221;
Ferriday is not expected to move up a classification.
