NATCHEZ — Services for Robert “Bob” Carroll Sr., 87, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilderness Baptist Church in Natchez with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Paul AME Church Cemetery in Pinemount, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service time at the church.
Mr. Carroll was born to parents Herman and Eliza J. Johnson Carroll on Feb. 25, 1924, in Adams County. He was a member of Wilderness Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his health began to fail. He was an avid baseball fan, a cartoon fanatic, a popular mechanic and a stranger to no one in the Natchez area.
Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma Lee Gaines Carroll; one son, Richard Lee Carroll; one nephew, Kenny Lee Gaines; two brother-in-laws, Henry Kaho and Charlie Gaines Jr.
Survivors include seven loving and devoted children, Robert and wife Naomi Carroll Jr., Herman and wife Patricia Carroll, Christa Ann Carroll, Nathaniel and wife Debra Carroll, Edward Lee Carroll, Wayne and Virginia Carroll and Mark Anthony and wife Zelda Carroll; one sister, Sophie B. Bowman; 32 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
