WOODVILLE – Services for Lucille Alexander, 79, of Woodville, who died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, will be noon Thursday at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt Palmer officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedar Rest Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Alexander was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Adams County, the daughter of Walter Alexander and Luella Alexander Bennett. She was retired from Centreville Healthcare Facility. She was a member of the Usher Board, Heroines of Jericho, and Mount Olive Board Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; two brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include a son, who she reared from infancy, Robert Smith and companion, Everlena Jackson; sisters, Jane Strauder of Kingston and Celestine Joel of Natchez; grandchildren, Charles Wells, Latroy Wells, Radrecka Wells and Wyletchia Jackson, all of Woodville; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and many children whose lives were enriched by her devoted love and care.
Judge Brown
April 16, 1921- Dec. 24, 2006
KIRBY – Services for Judge Brown, 85, of Meadville, who died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. today at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Kirby.
Burial will follow at Hunt Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Brown was born April 16, 1921, in Franklin County, the son of Albert Brown and Fannie Parker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Berdie Mae Brown; parents; sons, Jerry Lee Brown Sr. and Ronnie Brown Sr.; sisters, Lottie Bee, Eula M. Kelly, and Gary Leggett; and brother, Nathaniel Spriggs.
Survivors include his daughters, Minnie Wilson and husband, Woodrow, of Roxie, Clara Brown, Gladiestine Brown, Carolyn Shaw and husband, Bill, Linda Starks and husband, Van, and Stephanie Hines and husband, Walter Ray, all of Meadville; sons, George Gant Sr. and wife, Pearl, Ray Brown Sr. and Jamey Brown Sr. and wife, Sandra, all of Meadville; a special nephew, Melvin Bee; 45 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

NATCHEZ – Services for Earline Short, 65, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, at her residence, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Bro. James Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Short was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Natchez.
Survivors include her sister, Susan Short of Natchez; brother, Jessie Short of Natchez; nieces, Virginia Waterman of Natchez and Loretta Harper of Gonzales; nephews, Hollis Waterman Jr. of Greenbrier, Tenn. and Earnest Waterman of White Bluff, Tenn.; special friends, Robert Moore and Carol Moore; six great-nieces; six great-nephews; six great-great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Earnest Waterman, Hollis Waterman, Joseph Stevens Jr., Zackery Day, Rodney Meece, and Robby Moore.

WOODVILLE – Services for Billie Jean Singleton, 61, of Bell Wood, Ill., who died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, will be noon today at Pleasant Green Baptist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt Henley officiating.

MONTEREY – Services for Effie Paul Moreland, 100, of Monterey, who died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Resthaven Nursing Home, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Era Baptist Church with the Rev. Leland Briggs officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Moreland was born Sept. 26, 1906, in Catahoula Parish, La., the daughter of Daniel Paul and Sally Thompson Paul. She was a resident of Monterey, a homemaker and a member of the New Era Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Moreland; daughter, Anita Moreland Gilley; son-in-law, Malcolm Gilley; and her parents.
Survivors include her son, Stewart Moreland and wife, Ceil, of Denver, Colo.; granddaughters Nancy Rogers and husband, Glenn, and Melissa J. Gilley, all of Lake Charles, and Rebecca Moreland of Arlington, Texas; and great-grandson, Collin Rogers of Lake Charles.
Pallbearers will be her great-grandson, nephews and great-nephews.

Burial will follow at Travel Rest Baptist Church Cemetery, in Rodney, under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home, Fayette.

Mr. Chiplen was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Vicksburg, the son of George Chiplen and Madie Williams Chiplen. He was disabled and a resident of Jefferson County Nursing Home. He was loved and cared for by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a special cousin, Ernest Sanders of Ridgeland; and other relatives and friends.

VIDALIA – Funeral arrangements for Ronnie D. Sanford, 52, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at Riverland Medical Center, are incomplete at Young’s Funeral Home, Ferriday.
Denzel K. Sandy
CLAYTON – Denzel K. Sandy, 57, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at his residence.
He was an oil field worker and a truck driver. He was a United States Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oris Alfred Sandy and Addeline Elizabeth Sandy; and brothers, Robert Sandy of Natchez and Leroy Sandy of West Virginia.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Sandy; daughters, Rebecca Johnson and Haley Johnson, both of Clayton and Crystal Dossett of Vidalia; sons, Michael Dossett of Natchez and Jeremiah Sandy of Vidalia; and sister, Kay Winters of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren.
