FERRIDAY &8212; The Huntington Hounds (8-1) came into Saturday&8217;s home contest against Central Private looking to avenge their only loss of the season.
They did so in a big way.
Antonio Jordan scored 16 points and Ricky Dunbar scored 12 to lead the Hounds to a 42-32 win over the Rebels.
Central Private beat Huntington by 16 in the Hounds&8217; first game of the season at Central Private.
In a game that was close throughout, a few big plays down the stretch, both of which were Trey Corbett steals that led to Dunbar layups, to get the 10-point win.
&8220;The key was (Jordan) and (Dunbar),&8221; said Rebels head coach Jason Norris. &8220;They kept getting boards, and when you control the boards you control the game.&8221;
&8220;We didn&8217;t put much pressure on them last time,&8221; said Huntington coach David Boydstun. &8220;We pressured them more this time.&8221;
Tyler Edwards led Central Private with 11 points.
The game was a markedly different performance offensively for both teams, as a slow pace kept things low scoring.
&8220;Both teams were playing a zone,&8221; Norris said. &8220;That&8217;s what kept the pace down.&8221;
&8220;We wanted to get some fast breaks,&8221; Boydstun said. &8220;They were good at getting back on defense. We do what the game is dictating. If people want to make us play a half court game, we&8217;re pretty good at that, too.&8221;
While he may have come out on the losing end, Norris said he was proud of his team following the loss.
&8220;I don&8217;t know that I&8217;ve seen us give more effort,&8221; he said. &8220;They played hard and gave a good effort.&8221;
