INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Freddie Franklin, 84, of Inglewood, Calif., died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, in Inglewood.
Memorial services celebrating Mr. Franklin’s life will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gospel Temple Baptist Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of Exquisite Family Mortuary in Inglewood.
Mr. Franklin was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Natchez, the son of Jesse Franklin and Anna Tolbert Greene Franklin. He was educated in the Jefferson County public school system and reared in the Baptist faith. At age 19, Mr. Franklin enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served for more than two decades. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Franklin was employed for a number of years as a construction worker.
Affectionately known as “Jack,” he enjoyed horse racing, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He will be remembered as a very loving man whose kindness and generosity knew no boundaries.
Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary and Emily Franklin.
Survivors include one sister, Augusta Seiferth of Natchez; four nieces, Jessie A. Singleton, Mary E. Franklin, Anita G. Smith and Emily Sanders and husband, Merrick, all of Natchez; three nephews, Ayyub Assabor and wife, Ruby, Virgil Gibbs and James Gibbs, all of Natchez; 22 great-nieces and great-nephews; 51 great-great-nieces and nephews; 14 great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and two adopted daughters, Janet Farmer and Jacquelyn Dobens, both of Marrieta, Calif.
