NATCHEZ &8212; Former Trinity Episcopal football star Chad Ridley was arrested Dec. 23 after a brawl, according to police reports.

Ridley, 22, was arrested by two deputies working a private party, Adams County Sheriff Ronny Brown said Friday.

&8220;Some kind of fight started, and they tried to arrest him,&8221; Brown said. &8220;They called the police department to get him&8221; because the deputies were off-duty, he said.

When police officers arrived and put Ridley in their car, Ridley kicked out the car&8217;s back window, police reports say.

Natchez Police charged Ridley with destruction of property. He was released on $659 bond. Ridley agreed to restitution Friday and agreed to pay up to $200 for damages, police reports say.

Ridley was also arrested Monday by the sheriff&8217;s office on charges of simple assault, simple assault on a law officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, Brown said.

He was released on a total of $7,000 bond.

Ridley was named 2001 All-Metro player of the year, helped lead Trinity to win their 2002 championship and played at Delta State University.

He transferred from Delta State in Cleveland to Central Missouri State University after the 2005 season.

He has said in the past he was interested in trying out for the NFL and other leagues.

Ridley, who plans to graduate in fall 2007, said he couldn&8217;t talk about the arrest, but he said he didn&8217;t think it would influence his future chances.

&8220;I doubt it,&8221; Ridley said. &8220;I&8217;m still going to go to school and everything. It all depends what goes on.&8221;
